Watermelon

I hate to really admitt it but I think yesterday was the first time I actually really pushed myself. I was tired, my legs were screaming at me, and I basically couldn't breath. Why the hell am I doing this to myself? Haha, j/k. I absolutely love the feeling I get right after, thats why. I get so energized and motivated. Even if you know me only a little bit you know that thats pretty impressive...
So anywho, I was jogging along last like usual when Andy, Snippy, and Kitten had all stopped a little ways ahead of Jason and myself. Thats when I decided to step it up. My goal was to sprint up and beat Jason to the rest of the group. Now if I had caught him and beat him that would have been a more interesting story, however, Jay didn't back down and wouldn't let me pass him.
WOOT JAY!!!
This just means that I pushed him to be better and makes up for the time I did sprint up and beat him last week. I think we are even now. (I would have liked to beat him though, damn)

After that little bit I recognized where we were. It was right out side the woods behind the middle school and it reminded me of when I did track. We came out there one day to do terrible sprints up a hill on Grey Road....our reward for for such abuse was watermelon :-) I remember eating as much as I could get my hands on and I don't even really like watermelon. It wasn't often that we got to do something like that. There was also a seed spitting contest... wicked gross I know...
This memory of mine pumped me up because as we headed into the middle school woods it all came pouring back to me and made me want to run that much more, complete this training, and do this marathon!
So lets fuckin KICK ASS! I am unstoppable!

Everbody else is doing it...

so i was thinking about creating a blog specifically for the training but i really had no idea how to do it until I found out that some of the other guys are doing the same exact thing which is amazing. We've started training for an October 3rd marathon April 3rd. I am by far the slowest of the group. Its pretty lame but I don't want to get discouraged and drop out. For myself, I feel like I've been very consistant. I've been able to jog straight for the 20 minutes that we've been going without stopping or walking at all. This is what has kept me going honestly because others have had to stop and/or walk. I think that if i have something to hold on to during this training I might actually be able to finish.... heres hoping. However, our past jogging experience was terrible. I couldn't push myself at all to run. We ended up walking almost the entire way. I don't know if it was the because it was because we were running at a different time of the day or because we'd been up all night the night before playing poker or if it was because we'd not eaten since the night before.....most likely a combo of all of that. Any way it sucked...

That being said, I am wicked disappointed at myself and for letting our group down. Today will be different and I am going to push myself hard. Maybe I won't be last today.
